    The Hybrid Project Methodology is a project approach that offers up-front visibility into project resources and schedules while delivering earlier engagement with the business team.  In this approach, the requirements are collected up front, but instead of a traditional waterfall execution path, the design, build and test phases are broken into multiple iterations.  Each iteration provides an opportunity for input from the incentive compensation administration team and their associated stakeholders.  The primary advantage to this approach is that changes to subsequent iterations can be made without significant rework.   In addition, the Hybrid Approach offers several other advantages:

    • Business requirements are collected up front and should include compensation plan details, base report requirements, and other in-scope functional needs. These business requirements are used to set the budget, schedule and resource needs up front, reducing several project risks.
    • Data integration points, such as CRM or ERP systems, can be linked to incentive compensation business processes earlier in the project. This allows for earlier testing, which is important because source data quality issues can cause ICM project cost overruns.
    • Relative to Agile, a Hybrid project approach produces higher quality documentation. Better documentation helps future incentive plan administrators understand the application configuration.
